Day 28.
“See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs, to work in gold, silver, and bronze, in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, to work in every craft. And behold, I have appointed with him Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. And I have given to all able men ability, that they may make all that I have commanded you: (Exodus 31:2-6 ESV)
When the tabernacle (the precursor to he temple) design was given and God was laying out the plan for its construction, he gifted men with the skills and abilities to accomplish the work. It is such a great picture of the church still today. God gifts people with spiritual gifts, gifts given by the Holy Spirit, to do the work of ministry – the building up of the church (which is the temple of God). Everyone is gifted who belongs to the lord, and everyone is needed. Have you considered how God has gifted you? And are you using your gift within the corporate work of building the church?
Lord, it is amazing to think that you have gifted us for the important work of building your temple, your church, today. Thank you Lord for such a privilege! Alas, but we have taken those gifts and either buried them in the sand or used them instead to advance our own kingdoms. Please be merciful to us for your Name’s sake and grant us repentance to turn back to the intended use of your gifts.
