Day 318.
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20 ESV)
As much attention we give this verse in forming the mission of the church, it is a mission that we must also give in our lived. In some way, we should see our daily jobs in light of this great commission. We should see the way we spend our money (or rather the money God has given us to manage for him) in light of it. We should see our yearly and monthly and daily planning in light of it. It is great news that we have to tell, even if it is not always received as such. When we go, we can expect fruit because we go in the authority of Christ himself, with the accompaniment of Jesus himself. That should stem our fears and embolden us to speak.
Lord, would you show me today who I might share the gospel with and give me words to speak. Would you direct my plans today and next year in a way that reflects obedience to this great commission. What a great and wonderful privilege to be included in the mighty and grand plan of God to break down the gates of hell and conquer the world!
