Day 335.

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. Give no offense to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God, just as I try to please everyone in everything I do, not seeking my own advantage, but that of many, that they may be saved. (1 Corinthians 10:31-33 ESV)

We are called to do all we do for the glory of God. In this context that is to seek the good of others over our own good. Particularly we are to seek the good of others over our own rights. For example, when one of my children finishes his homework he has the right to play video games are listen to his music. But if his brother is still doing his homework it may better for his brother still doing homework for him to refrain from those things he has a “right” to do. All of life is about this because our mission is not the pursuit of our own pleasure but the gathering of God’s people, the building of God’s kingdom.

Lord, would you help me to day to set aside my “rights” for the sake of others and their needs today? Would you help me find strength in the gospel?
