Day 290.

And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, but the boat by this time was a long way from the land, beaten by the waves, for the wind was against them. And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. (Matthew 14:23-25 ESV)

It is often after we are told that Jesus prays, something significant happens. Here he walks on the water. In Luke 9 we read of his transfiguration, and in still other places we read of his selection of the 12 disciples. It is in prayer that Jesus receives direction, commendation, and power. How much I need to remember this!

Lord, would you increase my faith to believe what you say about prayer so that I will be encouraged and eager to spend time in prayer and I will trust you to answer and change me through it.
