Day 158.
3 By the mouth of a fool comes a rod for his back,
but the lips of the wise will preserve them. (Pr 14:3)
When we fail to hold our tongue in the heat of the moment, we get ourselves only in worse trouble with our words. How hard it is to restrain the tongue! And yet, how powerful it is when we do. It “preserves” the wise and turns away wrath.
1 A soft answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger. (Pr 15:1)
O Lord, put a bridle on our tongues!
