10 When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices,
and when the wicked perish there are shouts of gladness.
11 By the blessing of the upright a city is exalted,
but by the mouth of the wicked it is overthrown. (Proverbs 11:10-11)
Part of our mission statement as a church is “renewing our communities” and here we find one way of doing that is to tend to wisdom and simply walk in the fear of the Lord. Proverbs is mostly about actions and consequences, showing us how good choices lead to blessing and bad choices bring disaster. Here we find that the blessing or disaster that come from our choices affect not just us, but the city of which we are a part.
