My mouth will tell of your righteous acts,
of your deeds of salvation all the day,
for their number is past my knowledge. (Psalm 71:15 ESV)
As the Psalmist feels the need for deliverance from some present form of trouble, he commits himself to reflect on the past deliverances of the Lord and comes to realize that the “deeds of salvation” are past his knowledge. Isn’t this the truth of it? When will we ever be able to plumb the depths of God’s works for us? We only scratch the surface. What a great and comforting truth!
I love too how the psalmist reacts to this reality, and that is to tell the congregation and even beyond. The congregation isn’t enough, he must tell the future generations too.
