Day 47.

God has gone up with a shout,
the Lord with the sound of a trumpet. Sing praises to God, sing praises!
Sing praises to our King, sing praises! For God is the King of all the earth;
sing praises with a psalm! God reigns over the nations;
God sits on his holy throne. The princes of the peoples gather
as the people of the God of Abraham.
For the shields of the earth belong to God;
he is highly exalted! (Psalm 47:5-9 ESV)

This is a reassuring scene. The King comes into his chamber, marches up the steps to his throne and takes his seat. Surrounding him are the rulers of the earth. But they are not called rulers, but rather “princes” to show their connection to the king. All of the earth is God’s domain.

Does it comfort you to know that God’s dominion extends throughout the earth?

Chronological Reading Plan plus Psalms: Lev 11-13, Ps 47

Lord, I am thankful that your people throughout the world within your church have “princes” (your sons) to rule over you who sit in your chamber and receive your wisdom with which to shepherd your people. Would you give your leaders this vision and allow them to both receive truth from you and deliver it boldly and truthfully.
