Day 16.
I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
I have no good apart from you.”
As for the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones,
in whom is all my delight.
The sorrows of those who run after another god shall multiply;
their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out
or take their names on my lips. (Psalm 16:2-4 ESV)

Psalm 16 is one of my favorite Psalms. It speaks of the delight and pleasures of walking with God. In the Psalm David credits God with all the good he has and rests on the confidence that God himself is his portion and his future inheritance. It is this that gives him perspective on life this side of heaven.

How does he kow this? That is more implied than stated, but the reference to the saints in whom he delights and the sorrows of those pursuing false gods is a clue. Corporate worship seems to be in view. There are those with him and those elsewhere. Those joining him in worship share his experience with the Lord and consequently remind each other of the Lord’s worth and goodness. While those who choose other gods (and anyone not intentionally following the true God is pursuing false gods, whether they call them gods or not), run into sorrow eventually. Everything in the end catches up to us all.

In what do you delight? This will tell you in what you put your treasure (your time, talents, money, energy, etc.).

Ask the Lord to help you put your treasure into the kingdom of heaven.

    this seams to change from day to day but I have just let go of one of my idols recently that I thought I had already left. I pray that the Lord lead me from temptation and deliver me from evil.

  2. Hadley says:

    I put my time in playing with friends and bible study.

  3. Hayden says:

    I delight in some of the foods my mom makes, and in reading the bible.

  4. Hobie says:

    My treasure is that God gave me a chance to know him and a strong conscience. I spend my money mostly on myself but sometimes on others. I spend my time playing or worshipping or playing video games. I would like if I spent more time worshipping God.
