Day 354.
Give thanks to the God of heaven,
for his steadfast love endures forever. (Psalm 136:26 ESV)

Read this psalm all the way through and you find the second part of this verse a refrain, “for his steadfast love endures forever” as the reason we are to give thanks. And if you ask what that love looks like, you can read through the psalm and find out, for it spells out God’s activity to save his people throughout the generations of Israel. God keeps his covenant through the centuries as he unfolds his redemption.

Sometimes it is hard for us to see his steadfast love for we look only in the immediate circumstances that we face. But we must always remember history so that we see the continued faithfulness of God, the “steadfastness” of his love for us, his people. This gives us hope for our future and confidence in our God.

Do you make a habit of giving thanks to God?

Give thanks today for God’s faithfulness to you that started way back in history.
