Day 321.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:1, 2 ESV)

Did you ever stop to think that there are people watching you from heaven to see how you live? The writer mentions this not to raise fear but to encourage us. These are the heroes of the faith. It reminds me of the past sooner legends, guys who are now NFL superstars, coming back and watching a present game on the sidelines. Just the sight of them would excite the players. Since this is true for us as believers, let us too live well and shake off the sin which holds us back. Even when shedding sin means being ridiculed, we have both a cloud of witnesses and the promise of joy that can carry us through.

Have you ever seen past legends attend any of your sporting events?

Thank the Lord for the encouragement of the saints of old!

We have seen them come to Sooner games but not to our sporting events. However, Barry Switzer has come come to some of our sporting events and Bob Stoops. It makes us feel good that they are watching but it also makes us want to behave.

Yes, there was Texans player at one of my football games and he said We were the best defense in our league. I definitely wanted to play better with him over there.
