Day 248.
Jesus heard that they had cast him out, and having found him he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” He answered, “And who is he, sir, that I may believe in him?” Jesus said to him, “You have seen him, and it is he who is speaking to you.” He said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him. Jesus said, “For judgment I came into this world, that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind.” Some of the Pharisees near him heard these things, and said to him, “Are we also blind?” Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no guilt; but now that you say, ‘We see,’ your guilt remains. (John 9:35-41 ESV)
Jesus highlights his purpose in coming in this passage, “For judgment I came into this world, that those who do not see may see, and those who see may become blind.” Jesus teaches a great reversal of the way of the world. He says, “the way up is the way down.” It is not the righteous who need a doctor but the sick. The way up (to God) is the way down (humbled by our own sin and desparation). The person who receives Jesus is the one who has reached bottom and forfeits his own efforts of earning God’s favor, and looks to Christ. The one who holds himself up and rejects the need for Jesus, is the spiritually blind. The one who says, “I cannot see the way on my own. I am spiritually blind!” is the one Jesus saves.
How about you? Do you claim your own goodness? Do you look down at others? Or do you feel you can’t measure up and lost without a rescuer?

Sometimes I look down on others and make them feel bad. And sometimes I feel like I can’t measure up like when I am playing a game with others and my guy dies and they say stuff to me, it makes me feel bad.
