Day 239.
For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards,t not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human beingt might boast in the presence of God. And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1:26-31 ESV)
The world gives value to those who are wise or disciplined or rich or devout. But that is not what God does. He chooses the broken people of the world and saves them by the wisdom and righteousness of Christ. When you give your life to Christ you have salvation in hand, not based on your past record but on Christ’s past record. This leaves those who are saved with nothing of their own to boast about. we boast only of the greatness of God’s work!
Do you feel undeserving of God’s love? If you answer yes, then good! That is the point! Give thanks to God that he saves the unworthy and the broken.
