Anxiety is a visitor to many. It comes in times of change or uncertainty, when a friendship is threatened or you face new challenges. It can cause you to doubt the Lord is really there for you, or that you have failed God and he is punishing you. While it is true that God uses struggles to sanctify you, it is not true that God has deserted you. He is faithful even when you are not. He cares deeply for you, much more than you can comprehend. After all, he gave up his Son for you. So you must turn to him when things get hard and not hide from him, particularly because your adversary is on the prowl.
Humble yourselves…casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:6-8)
