Trusting God frees you from the fear and dependence upon men. James instructs us us to value the poor man as we do the rich man, showing no priority to one over the other. The great temptation is to show preference to the rich because there appears to be potential gain from it. Trust on the Lord sets you free from worrying about gain from men. James goes on to explain that the poor person is richer in intangibles, namely faith, so judging by appearances can be deceiving anyway. Let us trust the God of grace and show no partiality.
My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. (James 2:1)
