Doctrine is of primary importance. Without good doctrine we are susceptible to drift into all kinds of perversions, pride, and dangers. Even when we obey, if we do not know why via good doctrine, then we are choking the gospel and abusing Christ.
Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers. (1 Tim 4:16)
