McCheyne’s Bible Reading Plan: Ex 24, Jn 3, Job 42, 2 Co 12

Then Moses and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel went up, and they saw the God of Israel. There was under his feet as it were a pavement of sapphire stone, like the very heaven for clearness. And he did not lay his hand on the chief men of the people of Israel; they beheld God, and ate and drank. (Ex 24:9-11)

After reading the Book of the Covenant to the people at Mt Sinai, and them responding, “all that you have spoken we will do,” Moses and the elders have a meal with God to consecrate the covenant. Like the Passover, this meal too foreshadows the Lord’s Supper. In some mysterious way we too are carried up into the presence of Christ. It is a remarkable thing.
