McCheyne’s Bible Reading Plan: Ex 6, Lk 9, Job 24, 1 Co 10
Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall. No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:12-13)
When we talk about sin and the reality that we will sin, because the predisposition to sin is still I us, that doesn’t mean we should resign ourselves to it. If your faith is in Christ, you are s new creation and God himself will always be faithful to provide a way of escape when you are being tempted. Grace is free for us but it was expensive for God and we must not make light of sin just because God forgives. In the preceding verses to those above, Paul gives the example of the Israelites who were rescued out of Egypt and led by God through the wilderness by God and fell repeatedly to various temptations. They were not spared by God and their deeds were recorded so that they might serve as an example for us. We must never mock the grace of God by not living according to it.
