McCheyne’s Bible Reading Plan: Ge 39, Mk 9, Job 5, Ro 9

“if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” And Jesus said to him,  “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:22-24)

While I may not couch it in these words, so many of my prayers are like this mans, “Lord, if you can do anything.” Perhaps it is the prayers I fail to pray that reflect this view more than anything. I don’t pray because I don’t believe God will answer. O, but how Jesus’ rebuke gives us hope!

May this second prayer be more often on our lips, “I believe; help my unbelief!”
