Day 248.
Thus I will execute judgments on Egypt.
Then they will know that I am the Lord.” (Ezekiel 30:19 ESV)
As Ezekiel prophesies the judgment of God upon the nations in detail, he repeatedly comes back to this phrase, “then you will know that I am the Lord.” Judgment is coming because of their sin, but all that God does is so that His name will be known. If men fail to acknowledge God during their life, they will still not escape that acknowledgement. God will be known. Their maker will be known.
Why do men refuse to acknowledge God? There are perhaps lots of contributing reasons but the foundational one is simply pride. He thinks too much of himself. He wants to maintain that he is “captain of his own destiny” and must answer to no one, nor has need of anyone. But in the end he will know that God is God. Men will know God is God because of His salvation or because of His judgment. One way or another they will know.
