Habakkuk 2:18 ESV
“What profit is an idol
when its maker has shaped it,
a metal image, a teacher of lies?
For its maker trusts in his own creation
when he makes speechless idols!
The worship of idols is obviously a foolish thing when considered as it really is. Our struggle is that we don’t realize that we do it. Our culture has embraced postmodernity, where there is no truth outside of your own.making. In other words, what one person decides is right for him, another person may call foolish. This is why a person from our culture can be “happy” for a person who has his own faith. But if everyone gets to decide for himself his own god, is that not the same.as.making an idol? We are right back to seeing the foolishness of it. Crafting a god as we wish him to be does not make that god real. Who will rescue us from our own idolatry?
May the true God save us!
