Day 244.
Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked, declares the Lord God, and not rather that he should turn from his way and live?…
For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Lord God; so turn, and live.” (Ezekiel 18:23, 32 ESV)
Sometimes when I discipline my son he accuses me of enjoying seeing him disciplined. But I don’t. I would much rather see him genuinely repentant than suffer discipline. It seems ridiculous from a father’s perspective. But from the perspective of the one being disciplined, at least at the time, the disciplinarian can seem cruel and out for blood. But that is not the case. A father disciplines because he loves; because he must. How much more so with the Lord? He takes no pleasure in it.
