Day 148.

Praise the Lord!

I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart,
in the company of the upright, in the congregation.
Great are the works of the Lord,
studied by all who delight in them

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
all those who practice it have a good understanding.
His praise endures forever! (Psalm 111:1, 2, 10 ESV)

There are two ways to read this Psalm. You can start at the end as a pragmatist and see that understanding the world begins with the fear of the Lord and fear of the Lord is gained with a proper vision of God through worship and the study of his great works. Or you can start at the beginning as a lover of God and long to spend time with the congregation of God’s people as they worship, studying the great works of the Lord, and find yourself with a proper understanding with the world. Either way you find that faithful worship and understanding the world go hand in hand.

Let us enjoy our worship of God this morning!
