Day 121.

And David knew that the Lord had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel. (2 Sam 5:12 ESV)

This statement speaks volumes. It is the one thing that we are all meant to understand about our own calling in life. God brings us through particular experiences and gifts us in particular ways that we might invest ourselves uniquely into the building and establishing of God’s kingdom. There is great temptation to take credit for the place we have achieved in life. There is great temptation to think that we have achieved it for our own sake – that our “hard-earned money” is simply for our own pleasure and purposes. It certainly is ours to manage as we desire. God has granted that. But we must recognize, as David did, that we are but stewards of what is ultimately God’s. Why does God bless us as he does? It is certainly that we might be blessed but not only for our personal blessing. God blesses us that we might bless all of His people and purposes.
