Day 362.
When you offer blind animals in sacrifice, is that not evil? And when you offer those that are lame or sick, is that not evil? Present that to your governor; will he accept you or show you favor? says the Lord of hosts. (Malachi 1:8 ESV)
We owe God our lives because he is our maker. We owe God our worship because there is nothing more worthy. We owe God our trust because he is our provider. And yet, our independent spirit wants to answer to no one and we go through the motions with God with minimal time, minimal effort. Many drag themselves to church as if it were some sort of penance and go about their week seeking to get ahead with the people around them rather than their God. Malachi is convicting and he shows us the need of our souls to be renewed. The good news when reading Malachi is that the gospel is coming. It’s just around the corner.
