Day 233.
So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace. But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace…
Lest you be wise in your own sight, I want you to understand this mystery, brothers: a partial hardening has come upon Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in…
For God has consigned all to disobedience, that he may have mercy on all. (Romans 11:5, 6, 25, 32 ESV)

In chapter 11 Paul explains how it is that he is the apostle to the Gentiles. God’s promise to Abraham did not fail, there is still a remnant. But a hardening has occurred so that God’s salvation might spread throughout the earth and so that all will know that it is only by grace that a person is saved. There is no salvation, even for Israel, except by the grace of God. Israel, and their pursuit of righteousness by genealogy and law keeping must be broken. It is only the humble and contrite that enter the kingdom of God.

Do you presume upon God to save you because you grew up in a Christian home?
