A man has predicted that today would be day of Jesus’ return. He has gotten some press and stirred plenty of people up. Could it happen today? Sure it could. Should we be ready. Absolutely. Jesus teaches that we should always be ready. We should live as though he were coming back tomorrow so that when he appears we shall not be ashamed at his coming. Do I think he will come today? No one knows the appointed time of Christ’s return, not even Jesus himself. Only the Father knows.
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed… But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. (2 Peter 3:10, 13)
How then should we live?
Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace. And count the patience of our Lord as salvation… [and] grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 3:14-15, 18)
