On Sunday morning we talked about how the world hates the Christian as Cain hated Abel and how that hate manifests itself, sometimes in persecution and death and sometimes in an attempt to strip away the Christians faith and righteous choices. In other words, there is great deal of peer pressure to live in ways agreeable to the world, adopting the same views and habits that will give us acceptance among the crowd. But to be friends with the world is to be the enemy of God.
the time that is past suffices for doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry. 4With respect to this they are surprised when you do not join them in the same flood of debauchery, and they malign you; (1 Pet 4:3-4)
