McCheyne’s Bible Reading Plan: Ex 9, Lk 12, Job 28, 1 Co 13

Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. (Luke 12:32)

Just before this Jesus tells us not to worry about food and necessities, but instead to seek first the kingdom of God. We know this part well. But I think we struggle to do this because we are not comfortable with our relationship with the Lord. We think, “I haven’t done this well so will God hold back?” We also worry that God’s resources are too limited because we can’t see from where they might come. But this verse gives us a reassurance about the heart of God that moves us past these fears. Remember he is your father, that it is his good pleasure to give you the kingdom, and that his kingdom is far greater than the resources we get anxious about.
